
Michael Carter-Williams is one of 12 to be named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List

ST. LOUIS – Sophomore guard Michael Carter-Williams has been named to the 2013 Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List, as selected and announced by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association this afternoon.
Carter-Williams is one of 12 outstanding players from around country who are all in contention for the title of College Player of the Year and the Oscar Robertson Trophy presented by Aflac.
Aside from leading the team with 178 assists and 59 steals, Carter-Williams has consistently remained at the top of the national standings in assist average, averaging 8.9 helpers per game, while currently ranking fifth in steals, with 3.0 per game.
The award will be presented to the national player of the year at the Devon Energy College Basketball Awards on April 15 at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
The U.S. Basketball Writers Association was formed in 1956 at the urging of then-NCAA Executive Director Walter Byers. With some 900 members worldwide, it is one of the most influential organizations in college basketball. It has selected an All-America team since the 1956-57 season.
Carter-Williams and the rest of the #6/6 Orange (18-2, 6-1) will travel to Pittsburgh (17-5, 5-4) this weekend, to face the Panthers on Saturday, Feb. 2 at noon. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
