SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The SU men's soccer team (8-3-0, 2-3-0 ACC) hits the road for the first time in two weeks when it visits Boston College (4-3-2, 2-2-1 ACC) for a 5 p.m. match Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the Newton Campus Soccer Complex.

LAST TIME OUT
Emil Ekblom set an SU Soccer Stadium record with seven points (three goals, one assist) and the Orange was stifling defensively in a 5-0 rout of NC State on Friday, Oct. 4.

SU seized control of the contest with three goals in the game's first 24 minutes, including Ekblom's first of the night. In the second half, Ekblom added two more goals to complete the hat trick.

The Orange outshot the Wolfpack, 15-3. Only one of NC State's three shots was on goal. It was the Orange's fifth clean sheet of the year. Goalkeeper Alex Bono made one save to record the shutout.

OFFENSE GETTING IT DONE
Syracuse is tied for first in the ACC in goals (24) and ranks second in points (64). SU is fourth in the conference with 16 assists. Nine different players have combined for the Orange's 24 goals.

After posting an SU Soccer Stadium record with seven points on three goals and one assist, Ekblom leads the team and is first in the conference with six goals. Alex Halis is second on the team and is tied for second in the ACC with five tallies.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Boston College has a 4-3-2 record this season, including a 2-2-1 mark in the ACC.

Zieko Lewis leads the team with eight points on two goals and four assists. He shares the team-lead in goals with four other BC players. Eagle goalkeeper Keady Segel has started in seven of BC's first nine matches, recording 16 saves and posting a 1.06 goals-against average.

Ed Kelly is in his 29th season as a college head coach and his 26th year at the helm of the Boston College program. A New England Soccer Hall of Fame inductee, Kelly has guided the Eagles to 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, including six straight and 10 since 2000.

SERIES HISTORY
Tuesday's match represents the 25th meeting between Syracuse and Boston College. After the Orange won seven out of the first 11 matchups between the two teams, the Eagles have controlled the series recently, winning the last five. Syracuse last defeated BC on Oct. 17, 1999 by a final tally of 3-0.
The most memorable match in the series occurred in 1982 when the Orange and Eagles met to decide the inaugural BIG EAST Championship. In the sixth overtime, Jim Powers scored in the 161st minute to deliver the Orange the conference title and end the longest match in league history.
