SU Begins Homestand Against RMU

SYRACUSE, N.Y.—The SU ice hockey team (6-5-1, 2-1-1 CHA) is staying home for two games this weekend after going on a four-game road trip. The Orange takes on Robert Morris University (11-3-0, 5-1-0 CHA) on Friday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. These two games are the first in six straight home contests to close out the 2013 portion of the season.

HOME SWEET HOME
• So far this season Syracuse has a 2-1-0 record at home, defeating No. 4/3 Boston College and Union and losing in a close match with Clarkson.
• The Orange tallied a 10-8-0 overall record in Syracuse last season, including a 6-4-0 conference record at Tennity Ice Pavilion.
• SU has had a winning home record just three times in program history, going 6-5-1 in 2008-09 and 9-8-3 in 2010-11.
• All-time, Syracuse is 36-38-6 at Tennity and 1-1-0 at the Onondaga War Memorial which adds up to a .488 winning percentage. Â

LAST WEEK AT MERCYHURST…
• The Orange was .250 on the weekend at Mercyhurst, tying 3-3 on Friday night and losing 5-3 on Saturday afternoon.
• Syracuse had its first overtime game of the season on Friday, holding off the Lakers for five minutes to end in a tie. It had been more than a year since the Orange has ended a game in a standoff. The last time was at RIT on Nov. 10, 2012.
• Mercyhurst snapped SU's six-game unbeaten streak on Saturday night, using three goals (two in the last three minutes) in the third quarter to get past the Orange.
• Jessica Sibley Scored two goals in the tie with the Lakers and is now on a three game point streak including three goals and two assists dating back to Nov. 10.
• Kaillie Goodnough notched the game-tying goal on Friday, which was also her first goal of the season. She also recorded an assist in Saturday's game.
• Caitlin Roach recorded three points on the weekend, all assists, bringing her point total to eight on the season, the third most on the team. Her six assists on the season are also the third most on the team.

SCOUTING ROBERT MORRIS
• RMU is 11-3 on the season and leads the CHA with a 5-1 record. They are currently on a three-game win streak, last losing to Mercyhurst on Nov. 8.
• The Colonials have received votes in the last four USCHO.com and USA Today polls, dating back to Oct. 28.
• Brittany Howard leads the team in points with 18 off of five goals and 13 assists. She is one of three players who has five goals on the year, the second most for an RMU player this season.
• Rebecca Vint leads the team in goal scoring with seven on the season and has 11 total points. She also leads the team with a +9 rating on the season.
• Jessica Dodds and Courtney Vinet split time in net with Dodds playing in eight games and Vinet playing in six. Dodds has a perfect record on the year, going 8-0-0 with a league-best 1.61 goals against average (8th best nationally), and a .929 save percentage which ranks second in the CHA behind SU's Billadeau. Vinet is 3-3-0 on the season with a .923 save percentage and a 2.00 GAA, which ranks fourth in the CHA.

SPECIAL TEAMS SUCCESS
• Syracuse is currently ranked fifth in the nation on the power play, converting 21.9 percent of the time. SU is the only CHA school ranked in the top-15 in this category. Penn State is the next best man-up performer, scoring 16 percent of the time (18th).
• The Orange has scored 16 power play goals so far this season. Aside from the shutout at No. 3 Clarkson, SU has scored a man-up goal in every game so far this season.
• The success is highlighted by an incredible performance on the power play against Union College, scoring four power play goals on five opportunities.
• Syracuse ranks eleventh nationally in penalty killing, stopping opponents from scoring 87.5 percent of the time. This ranks second in the CHA behind Mercyhurst, which is successful in man-down situations 89.5 percent of the time and ranks seventh in the nation.
• SU went on a four game streak of preventing opponent power play goals, stopping 27 consecutive man-down situations. Penn State broke the streak, notching a power play goal in its first opportunity.
• Syracuse is effective on special teams 52.6 percent of the time, either scoring or stopping the score 72-of-137 times.
• Syracuse is 16-of-73 (.219) on power plays this season and has netted 16-of-81 man-up shots (.198).
• Senior goaltenders Kallie Billadeau and Jenesica Drinkwater have combined to save 85 of 93 man-up shots taken by SU opponents so far this season (.914).
