SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- In a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 matchup, No. 4/5 Syracuse (7-0)and RV/23 Indiana (6-1) meet in the Carrier Dome on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 7:15 p.m. The game is part of ESPN's ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
Tickets for Monday's game are available online, by phone (1-888-DOMETIX) or in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B).The game will be televised on ESPN and ESPN3. What to Watch For – Syracuse
1. The Orange claimed its third EA Sports Maui Invitational last week. Senior C.J. Fair was named the MVP after averaging 18.0 points in the three games.
2. Sophomore Jerami Grant tallied 19 points in back-to-back games in Hawaii and was named to the EA Sports Maui Invitational All-Tournament Team. Grant was 7-for-11 from the floor and 5-for-6 from the free throw line for a career-high 19 points against California. He tied that mark against Baylor in the championship game. He is averaging 14.2 points per game this season.
3. Sophomore Trevor Cooney already has more three-point baskets through the first seven games of the season than he did in 39 games in 2012-13. He is 21-for-46 (45.7 percent) from behind the the arc after hitting only 18 three-pointers as a freshman. Cooney ranks second on the squad in scoring, averaging 14.3 points per game.
What to Watch For – Indiana
1. The Hoosiers bounced back from its only loss of the season with a 77-46 win against Evansville last Tuesday. IU started the season with five straight wins before losing to Connecticut in the championship game of the 2K Sports Classic in Madison Square Garden.
2. Indiana is the second-highest scoring team in the Big Ten, averaging 86.4 points per game. The Hoosiers feature a balanced scoring attack as four players are averaging double figures in scoring. IU is shooting 46.3 percent from the floor, but only 28.0 percent from three-point range.
3. Tom Crean is in his sixth season at the helm of the Indiana program. He has guided the Hoosiers to a record of 90-83.
THE SERIES
Syracuse leads the all-time series with Indiana, 4-1. The Orange defeated IU, 61-50, in last year's NCAA Tournament. Tuesday's game marks the first time the teams have squared off in the Carrier Dome.
