SU opened the game strong as senior Veronica Grant opened the game with a single to centerfield, and sophomore Mary Dombrowski followed with another single on a bunt. After junior Jasmine Watson advanced to first on a fielder's choice, Syracuse couldn't send the three home for the score, as a pair of strikeouts and another out at right field sent the Aztecs up to the plate.
Despite another single from Watson, both SU and SDSU were scoreless through the third inning. A pair of consecutive doubles and a single lifted San Diego State ahead, as a Syracuse throwing error gave the Aztecs a 2-0 lead heading into the fifth inning. The Orange gave up another single and a double, increasing the deficit to 3-0.
SU couldn't recover in the sixth and seventh innings, ultimately dropping a 3-0 decision to conclude the day.

Despite a groundout by junior Shirley Daniels for the second out, senior Veronica Grant and junior Jasmine Watson both walked, loading the bases for sophomore Julie Wambold. Wambold was unable to send the runners home though, as she grounded out to the Gator's third baseman.
Florida racked up a total of four runs in the fourth and the fifth innings, helped out by three SU fielding errors, but Syracuse didn't let up, despite trailing 5-0. Watson and Wambold rebounded with a pair of back-to-back base hits, as Watson singled through the left side and Wambold to left field. Freshman Corinne Ozanne was unable to send the two home, sending Orange scoreless again in the sixth inning

After sophomore Lindsay Taylor struck out two-of-three Gator batters in the top of the seventh, SU stepped up to bat. With sophomore Mary Dombrowski on first, freshman Danielle Chitkowski sent a single directly through the right side and Dombrowski took off, advancing to third base on the hit. Despite Daniels sending Dombrowski home, the lone score wasn't enough to hold off the Gators.
