Illinois Halts Orange Winning Streak

The loss ends a four-game Orange winning streak that began with a 6-1 win against Navy on Jan. 27.
The Illini stopped all three doubles duos, as SU entered the singles competition without sweeping the doubles competition for the first time in the last four matches. Unable to comeback, the Orange lost a pair of gritty matches on courts five and six as junior Aleah Marrow fell 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 and sophomore Breanna Bachini was outlasted by her opponent 7-5,7-5.
As the tough singles matches continued, Kobelt kept fighting on court two, battling to a 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 victory to conclude the match.
The Orange is back in action Sunday, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m., traveling to No.69 DePaul to take on the Blue Demons in the third conference matchup of the season.
