SU Records Fourth Straight 7-0 Sweep

Storrs, Conn. – The Syracuse tennis team (8-6) recorded its fourth consecutive 7-0 sweep this afternoon, defeating Connecticut (4-9) on all courts in both doubles and singles play. Across the last four matches, the Orange has won 36 straight matches, including 12 doubles and 24 singles contests.
SU also extends it streak to 5-1 in conference play, having surrendered just one BIG EAST loss in the first match of the season to USF.
The Orange came out strong against the Huskies, collecting the doubles point to open the game. Sophomores Amanda Rodgers and Komal Safdar notched their ninth consecutive doubles victory with an 8-4 triumph on court two.
Syracuse continued its dominance into the singles competition as sophomore Breanna Bachini didn't allow Marie Gargiulo a single point in a 6-0, 6-0 win from the No. 5 position. Safdar and junior Aleah Marrow dismantled Abby McKeon and Jennifer Learmonth on courts three and six with 6-0, 6-1 scores.
Kobelt registered her eight win of the season on court two, defeating Maxene Weinberg by a score of 6-0, 6-4, while Rodgers posted her fifth victory of the year from the No. 1 position with a 6-1, 7-5 win against Srna Stosljeciv. Sophomore Jimena Wu concluded the match with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win on court three.
SU is back in action tomorrow, taking on Harvard at noon in Cambridge.
