BOSTON - The Syracuse women's tennis team was defeated by Harvard, 6-1, this afternoon. The loss snapped the Orange's (9-8) four game winning streak. Â Sophomore Amanda Rodgers defeated Hideko Tachibana at the No. 1 singles position, 6-3, 6-4. The Orange picked up a doubles win on court two when Rodgers and Komal Safdar topped Amanda Lin and Sylvia Li, 8-5 for their 11th consecutive doubles victory.

Syracuse lost the doubles point to the Crimson after Kristin Norton and Hideko Tachibana claimed an 8-3 victory against Maddie Kobelt and Brittany Lashway on court one. Hannah Morrill and Hai-Li Kong defeated Aleah Marrow and Breanna Bachini, 8-5, in the No. 3 doubles position. Â

In singles competition, Kobelt was edged by Amy He, 6-3, 6-4 on court two. Jimena Wu was defeated by Norton, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 3 position.

After being defeated 6-2 by Kong in the first set, Safdar forced the second set into a tie breaker. Kong eventually edged Safdar, 8-6, in the tiebreaker, winning the second set, 7-6.

On court five Bachini won set one against Li, 6-3, before falling 7-5 (10-4) in set two. Marrow won her first set as well 6-4, before being defeated 6-2, 6-3 by Lin at the No. 6 spot.

Next up, Syracuse travels to St. John's on Saturday, April 6 and then heads to Rutgers on Sunday, April 7.
