SU Wraps Up 2013 With 5-2 Win at Temple

PHILADELPHIA – The Syracuse tennis team concluded the 2013 regular season with a 5-2 victory this afternoon at Temple, improving to 12-7 overall and 7-1 in the BIG EAST.
The Orange opened the afternoon taking the doubles as junior Maddie Kobelt and freshman Brittany Lashway and sophomores Amanda Rodgers and Komal Safard recorded 8-5 wins on courts one and two.
Heading into singles play, SU picked up three more victories in straight sets for a 4-0 lead. Rodgers defeated Alicia Doms 6-3, 6-1 from the No. 1 position, while Lashway took down Minami Okajima 6-1, 6-3 on court five. Alex Aiello followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Carly Bohman.
Even with the Owls claiming a pair of victories on courts three and four, Kobelt concluded the day's work with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 win from the No. 2 slot to secure the Orange's third straight victory.
Next up for Syracuse is the BIG EAST Tournament, but SU must first wait to find out where it will be seeded in order to determine its next opponent.
