Holland Sets New PR on Day One

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Syracuse track and field team wrapped up day one of the NCAA East Prelims tomorrow at the Irwin Belk Track inside of Aggie Stadium on the campus of North Carolina A&T. Six Orange competed in their respective events this evening. Junior Jaquan Holland set a PR in the 100m dash with his time of 10.46.

Holland finished fifth in his heat and 26th overall with a time of 10.46. He missed qualifying for the quarterfinals by .03 seconds. Â The 100m dash was Holland's first event at the meet for he will compete in the 200m dash as well.

 Sophomore Molly Malone's time of 4:28.58 in the 1500m put her in 33rd place overall, and sixth in her heat, but failed to qualify her for the quarterfinals of the race.

Freshman Rebecca Robinson finished the 400m dash 25th overall, with a time of 53.88. She was edged by Tiffany Harris of East Carolina by .02 seconds to capture the last qualifying spot for the quarterfinals.

In the women's 10,000m semifinals, junior Sarah Pagano finished 22nd with at time of 32:10.22. Sophomore Reed Kamyszek and senior Tito Medrano competed in the men's 10,000m finals. Kamyszek (30:18.16) finished in 20th place while Medrano (30:31.32) took 30th. Â The competitors needed to place in the top-12 of the 10,000m to qualify for the championship.

Action continues tomorrow at the Irwin Belk Track inside of Aggie Stadium on the campus of North Carolina A&T. SaDe Lewis will compete in the 100m hurdles while Donald Pollitt and Amadou Gueye will compete in the 110m hurdles. Brianna Nerud and Brenna Symoniak will compete in the quarterfinals of the 3000m steeplechaseÂ
