Former Syracuse point guard Michael Carter-Williams helped the Philadelphia 76ers pick up their first win in the finale of the NBA's Orlando Sumer League.
Carter-Williams finished with 11 points, five assists and two rebounds in an 89-86 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. MCW ranked second in the Orlando portion of the Summer League with 6.8 assists per game, while also averaging 13.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Teammate James Southerland chipped in with seven points on 3-of-4 shooting with a three-pointer and three rebounds. The forward averaged 7.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in five games in Orlando.
Center Fab Melo posted 11 points, five rebounds and blocked a shot in the Boston Celtics' 102-83 win against the Orlando Magic in Orlando. In four games with the Celtics, Melo averaged 6.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.
Guards Dion Waiters and Jonny Flynn were in action on the first day of the NBA's Las Vegas Summer League. Waiters, who was named to the 2012-13 NBA All-Rookie first team, scored three points, tied for a game-high five assists and pulled down four rebounds in the Cleveland Cavaliers' 70-62 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. Flynn, who appeared in three games with the Indiana Pacers Orlando Summer League entry, tallied two points in the Los Angeles Clippers' 90-83 triumph over the Atlanta Hawks.
Brandon Triche, who is on the Charlotte Bobcats Summer League roster did not appear in the Bobcats 69-68 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
