Former Syracuse guard Scoop Jardine has joined the NBA Summer League roster of the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to Cavs' director of college player personnel Trent Redden. Jardine is expected to dress for the July 18 game against San Antonio in Las Vegas.
Jardine was a Cousy Award finalist and a second team All-BIG EAST Conference selection in 2011-12. He played in 140 games for the Orange in a career that began in 2007-08. Jardine finished with 1,265 career points. At the end of his SU tenure, he ranked sixth in career assists (619) and tied for fourth in games played (140).
Injuries have hindered Jardine's attempts at a professional basketball career. He was hurt while preparing for the 2012 NBA Draft and has been rehabilitating since then.
The Cavs' roster also includes Dion Waiters, the club's number one choice in the 2012 NBA Draft, and a former Syracuse teammate of Jardine's.
