All three former Orange stars who played on July 21 scored in double figures, and James Southerland and Arinze Onuaku remain standing for a chance to claim the NBA's Las Vegas Summer League Championship.
Southerland and the top-seeded Golden State Warriors squared off against former teammate Brandon Triche and the Charlotte Bobcats in the second semifinal on Sunday night. The undefeated Warriors (6-0) took the game 75-67, as Southerland shot a perfect 3-for-3 from the field, all three-pointers, and went 2-of-2 from the line for 11 points. The undrafted free agent also hauled in five rebounds in 16:39 seconds of action.
Brandon Triche had a solid game in the Bobcats' losing effort. Triche played just under 19 minutes, scoring 13 points on 3-of-5 shooting including a basket from behind the arc. The former Syracuse guard also went 6-of-8 from the free throw line and added five boards, an assist and a steal.
In the other semifinal game, Onuaku recorded 10 points, four rebounds, a blocked shot and an assist to help the third-seeded Phoenix Suns (6-0) stayed undefeated with a 91-89 win over the Miami Heat.
Southerland and Onuaku will clash in the championship game of the Summer League on July 22 at 9 p.m. The two were teammates on Syracuse's 2009-10 team that advanced to the NCAA's Regional Semifinal.
