SYRACUSE, N.Y.-- The Orange ice hockey team will face off against Penn State on Friday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. and again Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. at Tennity Ice Pavilion. The Orange won both of its contests with the Nittany Lions earlier this season, both by one goal and one in overtime.
PENN STATE NOTES

• Since that weekend, the Nittany Lions have won just two more games and tied once. They have a 4-17-2 record on the season, 1-9-0 in conference.
• Shannon Yoxheimer is the leading point scorer for PSU with 12 on the season (five goals, seven assists).
• Taylor Gross has the most goals on the team (7) and is tied with Hannah Hoenshell in points (11).
• Nicole Paniccia and Celine Whitlinger have split equal minutes this season. Whitlinger is 3-8-0 this season while Paniccia has posted a 1-9-2 record. Paniccia is better in GAA (3.38) and save percentage (.913).
CUSE BEATS RIT IN OVERTIME
• Last weekend the Orange rematched RIT, this time winning 5-4 in overtime. Melissa Piacentini was responsible for the win, scoring 0:58 into the extra period.
• Piacentini and Jessica Sibley each had three points on the night, which moved them to second and first, respectively, for most points on the team. Sibley was named CHA Rookie of the Week for her performance against the Tigers.
• Jenesica Drinkwater made 19 stops in net to improve to an 8-2-0 record on the season and is now even in her career at 22-22-5.
• Syracuse trailed only once in the contest, down one goal for just over eight minutes between the first and second period.
• The win improved SU to .500 in conference play (4-4-2) and to 12-9-2 on the season, which already makes it the fourth-winningest season in program history.
NOT SO 'TINI'
• Sophomore forward Melissa Piacentini, who stands tall at five feet and two inches, has gotten off to a flying start in 2014, scoring five goals in the last four games.
• She has 17 points so far this season (second-most on the team) and a team-leading nine goals including four power play goals. In total, she has seven man-up points this year.
• Piacentini has notched the game-winner on three occasions and was the first to score three times.
• She is tied for 11th in College Hockey America in points per game (.77) and seventh in goals per game (.41). She is tied for third in CHA in both power play and game-winning goals.
• Nationally, Piacentini is tied for 15th in power play scores and ninth in game-winners.
ORANGE BY NUMBERS
• The Orange has more wins on the road than at home, compiling a 7-5-1 record at opponent sites and a 5-4-1 record between Tennity Ice Pavilion and the Onondaga War Memorial, its home sites.
