SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Margo Malone of women's cross country and Rob Trudo of the football team are this week's honorees for SU Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Malone is a Biology major while Trudo is a dual-major in Political Science and Economics.
Â
Malone and the No. 16 women's cross country team are preparing for their trip to the ACC Championship in Charlottesville, Va., on Friday, October 31. The championship race is set to start at 10:00 AM.
Â
Appearing in just two races this season, Malone is fresh for the conference championship in which her team was selected to finish third by ACC coaches in the preseason poll. Malone led the Orange with a 23rd place finish overall (20:25) in the Wisconsin Meet of Champions two weeks ago after finishing 16th overall (17:25) and hoisting her team to a third place finish in the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown a week prior.
Â
Trudo and SU football returns to the Carrier Dome this weekend to take on NC State. The matchup is set for 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 1 and will be aired on RSN and the Syracuse IMG Sports Network.
Â
The left guard plays an intricate part in an offensive line that is tied for 21st nationally and fourth in the ACC in sacks allowed. Trudo and his line have only allowed defenders to sack their quarterback 10 times this season and have paved the way for five 100-yard rushers this season. Â
