Cross Duo Earns Academic Honor

Syracuse honors Jessie Petersen and Max Straneva with Scholar-Athlete of the Week recognition

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – This week, cross country sweeps the Scholar-Athlete of the Week award. Jessie Petersen, a health and exercise science major, represents the women and Max Straneva, a nutrition and health and exercise science major with a physical education coach minor, represents the men.

Both teams are competing in their first meet since the ACC Championships on October 31. Straneva and the men won their second straight ACC Championship and their fifth conference title in the last six years. The women finished eighth overall with Petersen taking 20^th overall and finishing second for the Orange.

Friday, November 14 both teams will venture to the Bronx, N.Y., for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship set to start at noon. The meet will be Syracuse's final tune-up before competing in the NCAA Championship in Terre Haute, Ind., on November 22.
