
Gbinije and Morrison Earn Scholar-Athlete of the Week Honors

Orange hoops' duo honored for classroom success
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse hoops student-athletes Michael Gbinije and Maggie Morrison are this week's Syracuse Scholar-Athletes of the Week. Morrison is a senior psychology major, while Gbinije is a junior communication and rhetorical studies major.
Gbinije is coming off one of his best performances for the Orange, where he scored a career-high 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting, while also dishing out a personal-best eight assists and grabbing six rebounds in a win over Long Beach State on Sunday.
Morrison scored three points and grabbed one rebound in 'Cuse's win over Cornell on Sunday. She's averaging 13 minutes, three points, two rebounds and one assist per game for Syracuse this year.
Both student-athletes will lead their teams back to action this week as Morrison and the Orange women will host Central Connecticut State on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Gbinije and the Syracuse men will welcome Cornell to the Dome on New Year's Eve at 6 p.m.
