Orange Moves Up to No. 2 in IWLCA Poll

Syracuse's defense has posted a 3.50 goals-against average in the first two games of the season.
Syracuse has moved up one spot to No. 2 in the first week of the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll. With a 2-0 record, Syracuse earned 366 votes to move past Maryland, which opens the season Thursday. Defending champions North Carolina remains in the No. 1 spot with 400 votes.
In its inaugural season in the ACC, the Orange faces a tough schedule as it will play 10 of the nationally ranked teams, including the other four teams ranked in the top five. Syracuse's first top-five match up will be against No. 3 Maryland on March 10 followed by a pair of back-to-back games with No. 4 Northwestern on March 23 and No. 5 Duke on March 29. The Orange and No. 1 Tar Heels are set to square off later in the season on April 12. All matches will be played on home territory in the Carrier Dome.
Syracuse's first foe in the Dome will be Canisius on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. Fans can purchase individual tickets for $5 or a "Lax Pack" ticket package for $25 including ten general admission tickets that can be used as a season ticket or a group ticket package.
