Orange Ranked No. 3 in Preseason Coaches Poll

Syracuse earned 20 first-place votes and is ranked No. 3 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association preseason poll released on Monday, Feb. 3. The Orange garnered 368 points. Defending national champion North Carolina was picked No. 1 followed by Maryland at No. 2.
Syracuse won both of its games played in Florida last month to start the season. Sophomore Kayla Treanor tallied a career-high 11 points in SU's 21-7 victory at Jacksonville. The Orange set school records for most goals in a game and largest margin of victory in its 25-0 win against Stetson.
The Tar Heels received 360 first-place votes and 398 points to take the top spot in the poll. Last year's national runner-up Maryland also had 20 first-place votes and 371. Northwestern was picked fourth followed by Florida. SU will play all four of those teams in the Carrier Dome this season.
The ACC has seven teams ranked in the preseason top 20, including five in the top 10. Overall, Syracuse will face 10 of the teams ranked in the poll.
Syracuse takes on Canisius in its home opener on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Fans can purchase a "Lax Pack" ticket package for $25, which includes 10 general admission tickets that can be used as a season ticket or as a group ticket package. Individual game tickets can be purchased for $5.
