Eight Advance, Four Score at ACC Champs

RESULTS
CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—Eight Orange advanced to the final round and four earned team points on the second day of the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday evening at North Carolina's Belk Track.
After seven events, the men's team is in third place with 33 points while the women's team has 12 points and sits in ninth place.
MJ Erb won silver in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, running it in 8:51.86. Joe Whelan also scored points for the men's team in the event, taking fifth place overall in 8:59.29, his first sub-nine minute time since his freshman season.
On the women's side, Sydney Leiher ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:35.93 to take seventh place while Brenna Symoniak was right behind her, finishing in eighth place with a time of 10:44.78 to combine for three points toward the women's total.
The Orange dominated the 110-meter hurdle competition, advancing all four of its runners to the final round where they will make up half of the competition. Donald Pollitt led the way with the best performance of the day, finishing in first place in 13.86 seconds. Freddie Crittenden was nipping on his heels for a second place finish in 13.91, a personal record time. Amadou Gueye had the fourth-best performance of the evening and Darren McCluskey rounded out the qualifiers, running a career-best time of 14.37 seconds.
Shaina Harrison and Sabrina Cammock each qualified for the 100-meter dash finals with Harrison taking fifth overall in 11.78 and Cammock just behind her in seventh place (11.85).
Rebecca Robinson rounded out Orange qualifiers with a seventh place performance in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 54.19 seconds.
Syracuse finishes up competition at the ACC Championships tomorrow beginning at 4 p.m. with the women's 4x100-meter relay.
