Orange Earns First-Place Votes in This Week's Polls

Syracuse received first-place votes in both the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and Brine media polls released on Monday, April 7. The Orange earned 40 of a possible 400 first-place votes in the IWLCA poll and two of 10 in the media poll. Syracuse is ranked No. 3 in both polls for the fourth consecutive week.
The defending national champion North Carolina is ranked No. 1 while Maryland is No. 2 in both polls. The Tar Heels garnered 320 first-place votes in the coaches poll and eight in the media poll. The coaches gave 40 first-place votes to the Terrapins. North Carolina is 12-1 overall with its only loss coming to No. 5/T5 Northwestern. The Tar Heels defeated Maryland on Saturday for its first loss, while the Terps are the only team to defeat the Orange.
Syracuse is 12-1 overall and has four wins against teams currently ranked in the top 10 in the coaches poll. SU is tied for second in the ACC standings with Maryland as both have 4-1 marks in league play.
