Orange winning streak snapped at six
Chapel Hill, N.C. - The Syracuse field hockey team dropped its first game of 2014 on Friday at the hands of No. 1 North Carolina

The No. 5 Orange (6-1, 0-1 ACC) fell to the Tar Heels (5-0, 1-0 ACC) 3-0, snapping the team's six-game win streak.
Senior goalkeeper Jess Jecko made six saves in the game, but Charlotte Craddock and Loren Shealy each found the back of the cage in the first half and Nina Notman scored in the second to give the Tar Heels the win.
The Orange recorded seven shots in the contest, but Tar Heels' goalkeeper Shannon Johnson stopped all five shots that were put on cage to keep 'Cuse off the board.
Emma Russell and Laura Hurff each recorded a pair of shots for the Orange in the game.
SU will next square off with No. 15 Boston College next Saturday at 1 p.m.
