Michael Bosch returns to Syracuse to serve Coach Ross' pitching staff
After a two year hiatus from the SU softball program, Michael Bosch has returned to the aid of Coach Ross' pitching staff. In his previous stint at SU he served as Coach Ross' assistant from 2010-2012.
"I am thankful for the opportunity that Coach Ross and Daryl Gross have given me. My expectations as a coach have always been high and I feel Syracuse University and the softball program exemplify those high expectations. Being a part of 2011 Big East Championship team and two teams that had great runs in the NCAA tournament were great experiences in my coaching career. I am excited to bring my experience, knowledge and love for the game of softball back to SU." Bosch said when asked to comment on his hiring.
The highlight of Bosch's time with the Orange was in 2011 when his pitching staff broke program single season records for wins, strikeouts, shutouts, opponent batting average and earned run average. 2011 was the same year Syracuse great, Jenna Caira was Big East Pitcher of the Year and ECAC Pitcher of the Year. It was in the same year he and the SU staff was awarded the NFCA Great Lakes Region Coaching Staff of the Year.
Prior to his return, Bosch was the National Softball Director for Frozen Ropes, Inc., from 2012-2013 and a Volunteer Assistant Coach at Minnesota State, Mankato. At Minnesota State his team finished 43-13 and he was responsible for the supervision of softball instruction at 20 Frozen Ropes Facilities.
The majority of Coach Bosch's coaching history was when he was the head coach at Iowa Lakes Community College for 13 years (1997-2010). There he compiled a record of 525-236-2 and earned NFCA Midwest Coaching Staff of the Year twice (2010, 2006) and NFCA NJCAA Division II National Coaching Staff of the Year in 2008. His staff coached 28 All-Americans and 81 All-Region players in the 13-year tenure.
In 2010 Bosch coached his team to a 61-11 record, a Region IX Championship and a third place finish in Nationals. ILCC finished 56-9 in 2009 and was the Region IX Runner-Up. Bosch also won a Region IX Championship in 2008 and finished fifth at Nationals with an overall record of 56-13.
