
Orange Turns in Strong Performance at Upstate Challenge

The Syracuse track team continued its early-season slate this weekend at the Upstate Challenge, hosted by Cornell, where 'Cuse turned in a strong performance in the mile and Freddie Crittenden, Shaina Harrison, Maura Linde, Sofia Mossberg and Reggie Morton secured individual victories for the Orange.
Harrison won the 60-meter convincingly, taking the event by nearly two tenths of a second over Buffalo's Camaria Long. Harrison finished the event with a time of 7.40.
Rebecca Robinson (fifth/7.70) and Sabrina Cammock (sixth/7.74) also posted strong showings in the event.
The Orange also won the men's side of 60-meter hurdles, with Freddie Crittenden taking the event in 7.86, three tenths faster than Army's Taylor Andrews. David Gilstrap placed fifth for 'Cuse in the event (8.33).
Mossberg won the women's event, leading four Orange runners in the top-eight. She finished with a time of 8.42, with Tia Thevenin (8.76) finishing fourth, Sa'De Lewis (9.01) taking seventh and Regine Hunter (9.04) placing eighth.
Morton's win came in the long jump, as he leaped to a best distance of 7.33 meters on his fifth attempt.
Linde highlighted the distance portion of the Syracuse program. She took first in the women's mile by nearly five seconds, finishing in 5:00.54, with Stephanie Bitcon taking third (5:06.02) and Fiona Hendry (5:11.67) taking ninth.
On the men's side, Syracuse put three in the top four, with T.J. Hornberger (4:15.90/second), Philo Germano (4:16.15/third), and Andrew Bennison (4:16.21/fourth) leading the pack.
In addition to the event winners, Syracuse also saw a number of top-five finishes.
Brittany Belo took fourth in the 400-meters (58.99), Molly Malone finished second in the 1000-meters (2:52.88), Jabari Butler placed third in the high jump (2.09 meters) and Pascal Bastien finished fifth in the triple jump (14.19 meters).
