Orange Falls to Colgate in Return to Action

Despite outshooting Colgate (4-15-0, 1-6-0 ECAC) 28-17, Syracuse (5-9-7, 4-2-3 CHA) fell 2-0 in its first game back from break on Tuesday night.
After a scoreless first period, the Raiders scored its first goal on a power play opportunity midway through the second period.
Colgate tacked on another goal shortly thereafter, when Lauren Wildfang rifled a low shot from the point that found its way through traffic and past goaltender Jenn Gilligan.
Gilligan finished the night with 17 saves.
The Orange offense upped the pressure in the final four minutes of the second period, but were stopped by Colgate net minder Ashlynne Rando and the pipe at each opportunity and came away scoreless.
'Cuse continued to put pressure on in the third but were unable to find the back of the net, resulting in the team's second shutout of the season.
The Orange will return to action on Saturday, when the team travels to North Dakota for its final non-conference series of the season. Puck drop is scheduled for 3 p.m.Â
