SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The Syracuse women's soccer team opens a four-game home stand starting on Sunday, October 18 at 1 p.m. when it hosts North Carolina State in Atlantic Coast Conference play at the SU Soccer Stadium. The game will be televised live on the Regional Sports Network. The Orange will wear all pink for Pink Day to help the fight against breast cancer and a carvival will take place around the game.
Â
Both Syracuse (4-10-1, 0-6 ACC) and NC State (4-10-0, 0-5 ACC) are searching for their first conference win of the season. The Orange lost its last three contests all by the final score of 1-0 while the Wolfpack is also coming off a 1-0 loss.
Â
"The one nil losses are very frustrating because we had our chances in those games to come away with a tie or at least a victory," head coach Phil Wheddon said. "It has been a tough schedule and the away games can be difficult to go into some environments, but that is one of the great things about the ACC."
Â
The Orange has played a difficult schedule with a bulk of its games coming on the road. With five of the top-15 teams in the nation belonging to the ACC, Syracuse has played four of them this season on the road. Although its been a tough road, the Orange will end its regular season with a four-game home stand starting against the Wolfpack.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
Syracuse took on ACC opponent Pittsburgh, losing on a penalty kick goal during extra time, which was the only goal of the match. The Orange was out shot by the Panthers 13-5 and Pitt tallied six more corners. Syracuse goalkeeper Courtney Bronson had seven saves.
The Panthers Hanna Hannesdottir scored the only goal of the match and her first of the season after being taken down inside the box in the 99th minute.
