SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's ice hockey team will take on College Hockey America opponent Robert Morris in a two-game series this weekend to continue its six-game road stretch. Syracuse will face off against the Colonials on Friday, Oct. 30 at 7:05 p.m. followed by another matchup on Saturday at 3:05 p.m.
The Orange (3-4-0) is coming off a tough 3-2 loss to St. Lawrence (3-5-1) after leading 1-0 after the first period before giving up three consecutive goals to the Saints. Sophomore  Alysha Burriss' first period goal did not hold as St. Lawrence scored twice in the second period and again in the third. After pulling senior goaltender Jenn Gilligan late in the third period, sophomore Megan Quinn brought the Orange within a goal with nine seconds left, but it was too little too late.
Despite the loss to St. Lawrence, Syracuse won its previous game coming against RIT in the conference opener by a final score of 7-1. Sophomore Stephanie Grossi went off for three goals and two assists for five points, leading her to being recently named the CHA Player of the Week. Gilligan was also honored as CHA Goaltender of the Week with the win in the Orange conference opener.
Coming off a loss to St. Lawrence, Syracuse will look to bounce back when they travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. to take on the Robert Morris Colonials.
"We matchup pretty well, so we know we have to work hard," head coach Paul Flanagan said. "We've got to squeeze as much out of our good players as we can. This is going to be a pretty big weekend so early in the year. Both teams know they have to show up and work hard."
The Orange will look to show up against a hot Colonials team that has been playing good hockey. Robert Morris will also be on nearly two weeks of rest coming into this weekend.
SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
Robert Morris is undefeated at home this season posting a 2-0-0 mark. Behind the attack of some young forwards, the Colonials have won their last four games, all by at least two goals.
Junior Brittany Howard and Freshman Sarah Quintana both lead the team this season with 10 points. Howard is Robert Morris' leading scorer with four scores while Quaranta has a team-high nine assists.
Junior goaltender Jessica Dodds has been solid between the pipes for the Colonials, garnering a 2.13 GAA to go with a .930 save percentage.
