Sophomore Julian Buescher selected to All-ACC First Team.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse sophomore Julian Buescher has been selected to the All-ACC Men's Soccer First Team in a vote by the league's head coaches. In addition, junior Oyvind Alseth earned All-ACC Third Team honors, while Kamal Miller and Miles Robinson were voted to the All-Freshman Team. It marks the third consecutive year that the Orange has had four All-ACC honorees.
Buescher earns first-team All-ACC honors after being named to the second team and the All-Freshman team last season. He has recorded career highs in every statistical category. Buescher leads the team and ranks fourth in the ACC in scoring with 23 points. In addition, he leads the team and ranks fourth in the ACC in goals (8) and assists (7). Buescher had a scoring streak of nine straight games and has recorded at least one point in 11 of his last 15 matches. His 23 points tie him for the fifth-highest total by a sophomore in school history and are the most for a member of the Orange since Emil Ekblom had 23 in 2013.
Alseth has started all 19 games for the Orange and has tied his career highs in points (11), goals (3) and assists (5). He recorded his first multiple-assist game in the Orange's win against Pittsburgh. Alseth assisted on three of Syracuse's five goals against the Panthers, marking just the ninth time in program history that a player recorded three or more assists in a game.
Miller and Robinson both started all 19 matches on the defense and helped the Orange record five shutouts. Miller scored two goals, including the game-winner against Binghamton, while Robinson tied for fourth on the squad with three goals. Syracuse has now had at least one player named to the ACC All-Freshman Team in all three years it has competed in the league.
Syracuse continues ACC Tournament play on Wednesday, Nov. 11 when it takes on No. 2 Clemson in South Carolina. Match time is set for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN3.
