SYRACUSE, N.Y.-Â After beating College Hockey America rival RIT 5-1 on Wednesday night, the Syracuse women's ice hockey team will get back on the road to face off against local rival Colgate on Friday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at Starr Rink.Â
The Orange (6-7-1) lost two consecutive contests to ECAC opponents before the 5-1 win over RIT in CHA play. Colgate (6-2-5) is unbeaten in its last three games that includes two wins over RIT and a tie against Cornell. Before Syracuse's win against RIT, the Orange lost 5-2 to Cornell.
"We are looking forward to Friday's game. We typically gave good games against Colgate; back and forth types of games," head coach Paul Flanagan said. "We are once again on the road, but we will look to build off our success against RIT and take it with us when we play Colgate."
In Wednesday's win over RIT, junior Jessica Sibley scored two goals and dished out an assist, leading the Orange to three of its five goals. With an assist on a score from sophomore Stephanie Grossi, senior Melissa Piacentini moved past Holly Carrie-Mattimore '13 by registering the 97th point of her career, placing her first all-time at Syracuse. Freshman Allie Munroe also scored the first goal of her collegiate career, giving the Orange a 5-0 lead midway through the third frame against the Tigers.
Syracuse and Colgate are 6-6-1 overall against each other with both sides securing a win last season.Â
