'Cuse Hosts No. 9 North Dakota For Weekend Pair

SYRACUSE, N.Y.-Â The Syracuse women's ice hockey team will take on No. 9 North Dakota in a pair of non-conference contests this weekend at home, starting on Friday, Nov. 27 at 3 p.m. at War Memorial Arena. The second contest is also slated for a 3 p.m. start time, but at Tennity Ice Pavilion on Saturday, Nov. 28.
Syracuse (6-8-1) went 1-1 last week, including a 5-1 win over College Hockey America rival RIT. Junior Jessica Sibley netted two goals while also dishing out an assist in the win. The Orange then battled local rival Colgate, losing to the Raiders by a final score of 2-1 despite holding a 36-17 edge in shots.Â
North Dakota (8-4-2) split a weekend series with Minnesota Duluth its last time out, winning the first game 4-3 before losing the second contest 1-0.
After playing majority of its games on the road, the Orange return home to play its next six contests at home. Syracuse will have a tough task ahead of them this weekend against a nationally-ranking Fighting Hawks squad.
"We have to prepare for a solid 120 minutes on both Friday and Saturday. We have to zero in on a good start on Friday afternoon," head coach Paul Flanagan said. "We have to play consistent and be smart in all aspects of the game."
SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA
The Fighting Hawks are currently the ninth ranked team in NCAA Division I Women's Ice Hockey.
North Dakota has three players with 11 or more points. Amy Menke leads the team with 11 goals and nine assists for 20 total points. Meghan Dufault and Becca Kohler have registered 15 and 11 points, respectively.
Shelby Amsley-Benzie has started in 10 games this season for the Fighting Hawks, garnering a 6-3-1 record. In net, she has posted a 1.99 goals against average to go with a .898 save percentage.
North Dakota is undefeated on the road this season with a 5-0-2 record.Â
