
Lacrosse Duo Earns Orange Scholar-Athlete Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Ben Williams of the men's lacrosse team and Halle Majorana of the women's lacrosse team are this week's Orange Scholar-Athletes of the Week.

Williams is a dual major in real estate and general accounting in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. The junior was most recently named to Inside Lacrosse's Preseason All-American Second Team, along with teammates Brandon Mullins and Dylan Donahue. Williams earned USILA Second Team All-American honors his first season at Syracuse last year, ranking second in the nation and first in the ACC in faceoff win percentage, claiming more than 67 percent of faceoffs. The Mendota Heights, Minn. native was also a Tewaaraton Award Nominee for the Orange this past season. He was the nation's leader in ground balls (153) during the 2015 season, placing him at second in program history for ground balls.

Majorana is a child & family studies major in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. The junior also earned All-American preseason honors, joining teammate Kayla Treanor on Inside Lacrosse's All-American First Team list. This past season, Majorana was a member of the IWLCA All-America First Team, tying Treanor for fifth in the nation in scoring with a career-high 91 points. The Manhasset, N.Y. native was voted to the All-ACC First Team as well as the conference's All-Tournament Team during the 2015 season. She recorded five or more points in 11 contests last season.

Williams and the men's lacrosse team open the 2016 season on Saturday, Feb. 13, taking on Siena at 1 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.

Majorana and the women's lacrosse team open its season a day later on Sunday, Feb. 14, facing off against Loyola (Md.) in the Carrier Dome at noon.
