Orange Moves Up One Spot in Media Poll

Syracuse is now ranked No. 3 in both the coaches and media polls.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse moved up one spot to No. 3 in this week's Inside Lacrosse women's lacrosse media poll. The Orange held steady at No. 3 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) coaches poll.

Both polls have defending national champion Maryland at No. 1 followed by North Carolina at No. 2. Florida and Northwestern round out the top five in both polls.

Syracuse opened the season with a pair of victories last weekend. In the first doubleheader in program history, the Orange defeated No. 19 Denver, 18-10, before beating Canisius, 21-13, in the nightcap. Junior Halle Majorana (Manhasset, N.Y.), a transfer from Maryland, made an immediate impact for the Orange. She tallied 10 points in the two games, while senior Kailah Kempney (Carthage, N.Y.), junior Kayla Treanor (Niskayuna, N.Y.) and freshman Riley Donahue (Syracuse, N.Y.) finished with eight points apiece.

The Orange will play its second doubleheader on Sunday, Feb. 15 in the Carrier Dome. Syracuse will face Canisius at noon and Presbyterian at 7:30 p.m.
