Orange Competes in Final Meet Before ACC Championships

A pair of Syracuse runners competed in the Virginia Tech Challenge this weekend in a final tune-up before next Saturday's ACC Indoor Championships, while a number of others competed at the Marc Denault Memorial at Cornell.
Regine Hunter won the women's triple jump in Blacksburg, Va., leaping to a distance of 12.47 meters, while Joel Hubbard took 22nd in the men's mile, racing to a time of 4:23.66 at the meet.
At Cornell, Kevyn Hoyos and Shawn Wilson each turned in top-three finishes in the mile. Hoyos won the event with a time of 4:15.22, while Wilson raced to a time of 4:20.75, which was good for third.
In the 60-meter dash, Shaina Harrison (7.39) and Sabrina Cammock (7.68) placed one-two in the 60-meters and Rebecca Robinson won the 300-meters on the women's side with a time of 38.71 to keep things rolling for the Orange.
Donald Pollitt also won an event, the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.84 seconds.
In the high jump, Jabari Butler placed fifth, with a time of 2.04 meters.
'Cuse also took the top-two spots in the 5000-meters, with Shaylyn Tuite winning the event in 17:55.59 and Angelica Peck taking second in 17:58.31.
Sofia Mossberg (8.57) and Danielle Delgado (8.72) also went one-two in the 60-meter hurdles.
Shasche Allen took fourth in the 400 (1:00.08) and then 'Cuse took three of the top-four spots in the 800, with Gabriella Kreuz leading the way (2:15.16) in second and Karina Ernst (2:15.45) and Elizabeth Reynolds (2:18.60) right behind.
The Orange will next head to Blacksburg, Virginia for next weekend's ACC Indoor Championships.
