'Cuse three points out of a bye with four games left.
The Syracuse hockey team completed a weekend sweep of CHA rival Robert Morris on Saturday to separate itself in the CHA standings and move to just three points out of a first-round bye with four games remaining.
Â
The Orange completed a 3-1 win over the Colonials, which marked the 100th win in program history.
Â
Syracuse got on the board first when Laurence Porlier netted her first-career goal in the second period. Teammates Heather Schwarz and Eleanor Haines were credited with the assists on the play.
The Colonials would answer right back though, as Natalie Fraser scored from Ashley Vesci on a 2-on-1 that was created after a collision in the neutral zone created an odd-man rush.
Schwarz would pick up her second point of the day 6:14 into the third in the form of the eventual game-winning goal. She buried a feed from the freshman duo of Emily Costales and Stephanie Grossi to put 'Cuse ahead for good.
Â
Alsyha Burriss tacked on an empty-netter with 14 seconds left for good measure after a Nicole Renault assist sprung her free.
Syracuse out-shot the Colonials 30-19, with goaltender Jenn Gilligan recording 18 saves for the Orange.
Syracuse will look to extend its winning streak next Friday, when the team hosts Lindenwood. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
