
Syracuse Signee Competes for State Title

Hansen and Liverpool will compete for New York state championship
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Alicia Hansen, an incoming freshman on the Syracuse University softball team, will compete for a New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Class AA State Championship this weekend. Hanson and her Liverpool High School team will take on Eastport-South Manor in the semifinals on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Moreau Field in South Glens Falls.

Section 3 champion Liverpool plays Section 11 champion Eastport-South Manor for a spot in the state final. Hansen and the Warriors would take on the winner of Section 1 champion Clarkstown South and Section 6 champion Orchard Park in the championship game.

Entering the final weekend of the season, Liverpool owns a 23-2 overall mark and has advanced to the state semifinals for the second straight year. The Warriors are seeking their first state championship title in softball in school history, as well.

Last season's Central New York Player of the Year, Hansen has served as one of the leaders on the Liverpool team. Hansen currently leads the team in batting average (.554) and runs batted in (38). She has also recorded seven triples on the season.
