Orange to Face Team USA Saturday

BRANDENTON, Fla. – Syracuse will scrimmage the U.S. national team at the inaugural Team USA Spring Premiere at the IMG Academy in Brandenton, Fla. on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 5 p.m. The game will be streamed live on www.uslacrosse.org.

The Orange returns 10 starters from last year's team that won the program's first ACC Championship and advanced to the national semifinals for the third consecutive year. Senior All-Americans Kayla Treanor and Halle Majorana return to lead the Syracuse offense. Both recorded 91 points last season. Treanor was a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award as well as the Honda Award. Senior Mallory Vehar (Hudson, Ohio) anchors the Orange defense. She led the team in caused turnovers and finished second in ground balls last season.

Treanor will be playing for Team USA this weekend. She will be joined by former Orange Becca Block '13, Liz Hogan '11, Alyssa Murray '14, current assistant coach Michelle Tumolo '13 and Katie Webster '14. The U.S. squad will take on Florida at 3 p.m. prior to facing Syracuse.

The 2015-16 U.S. Women's National Team is training for the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL)Â Women's World Cup in Guildford, England. Ultimately, 18 players will represent the U.S. as the team goes for a third consecutive and eighth overall world title.
