
Syracuse Hosts Pittsburgh For Alumni Game

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's soccer team (7-5-3, 0-4-2) will cap off a three-game home stand with Pittsburgh (2-11-1, 1-5-0) on Sunday, Oct. 16. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. at SU Soccer Stadium.
The Orange will look to continue its momentum after tying then-No. 2 Florida State in their last time out. Alex Lamontagne scored her first goal of the season in the first minute of play against the Seminoles, only the fifth goal scored against the Florida State defense.
Junior goalie Courtney Brosnan was named the ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts last week. Brosnan recorded 20 saves between the two games against Virginia Tech and Florida State. She had 15 saves against the Seminoles for the most in an ACC game this season and second most in a single game in Syracuse history.
The Orange are led in scoring by junior Alana O'Neill with five goals. Junior Eva Gordon and senior Stephanie Skilton have each added three goals this season. Nine total Orange players have scored in 2016. Freshmen Taylor Bennett and Sydney Brackett lead the team in assists with three each.
Pitt is coming off a 1-0 double overtime win against Miami on Oct. 9, which snapped a nine-game losing streak for the Panthers. Senior goalkeeper Taylor Francis is first in the ACC in saves with 84.
Syracuse comes into the match 4-2-2 at home this season. The Panthers are 0-6-1 on the road in 2016. Syracuse has an overall winning record against Pitt of 10-6-3. The Orange also earned a conference record of 9-4-3 against Pitt when the two teams played in the Big East.
Sunday's game will serve as the annual Alumni Game as the team will honor players from season's past.
