The Syracuse men's and women's cross country teams will begin the championship portion of its season on Friday at the ACC Championship.
One for the Thumb
- The Syracuse men's cross country team enters the meet looking for its fifth-straight conference title (fourth-straight ACC) heading into the weekend.
- The highest ranked team entering the meet, the men winning would mark the seventh conference title in the last-eight seasons for head coach Chris Fox's crew.
- In three seasons in the ACC, the women have finished as high as third in 2013. The team is coming off a fourth-place finish last season.
We're Going Streaking
- The Syracuse men have an opportunity to tie the third-longest streak for consecutive ACC men's cross country titles this weekend.
- Only Maryland 6 (1964-69) and NC State 5 (1995-99) would have longer streaks than the Orange's four. The mark would tie North Carolina (1960-63), Clemson (1980-83) and NC State's (2001-04) marks.
- There have been three streaks of four-or-more on the women's side, including two streaks of seven Florida State (2007-13) and NC State (1987-93). NC State also had a streak of four from 1995-99.
About the ACC Championship
- The meet will take place at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina
- The women will race a 6k beginning at 10:03 a.m.
- The men will compete in an 8k beginning at 10:45 a.m.
- Both races will be shown on ACC Network Extra.
Ranking the Orange
- The men enter the meet at No. 6 in the USTFCCCA coaches poll, while the women are receiving votes.
- Syracuse has been ranked in the top-six of every poll for the last three seasons on the men's side.
Knight Time
- Junior Justyn Knight has put on a show in his first-two meets of 2016.
- The Vaughan, Ontario native has been twice named USTFCCCA Performer of the Week after winning both the Panorama Farms Invitational and the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.
- Knight is looking to become the first member of the Orange since at least 2000 to win three individual meets in the same season this weekend.
Palamar Honored
- Besides Knight's two USTFCCCA honors, Syracuse picked up a third national weekly honor this season as well last week, with Adam Palamar earning USTFCCCA Performer of the Week honors after he won the John Reif Memorial.
