Orange Recruiting Class Ranked No. 2 in the Nation

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Inside Lacrosse magazine has ranked Syracuse women's lacrosse's freshman recruiting class No. 2 in the nation. In addition, the Orange have five players ranked among the top 50 freshmen in the nation.

Asa Goldstock (New Hampton, N.H.) is the No. 3-ranked recruit in the nation, while Emily Hawryshuk (Victory, N.Y.) is ranked No. 8. Lila Nazarian (Catonsville, Md.) is No. 20 in this year's class, Kerry Defliese (Garden City, N.Y.) is No. 33 and Vanessa Costantino (West Islip, N.Y.) is ranked No. 40. In addition, Morgan Widner (Coppell, Texas) was named to the Watch List.

Goldstock, a goalkeeper, was a 2016 US Lacrosse All-American after earning MVP honors at the New Hampton School. She was a two-time USA Today All-American and took part in the 2016 Under Armour All-American game. Hawryshuk is a 2016 Under Armour All-American, who was part of the U19 training team in 2014. She finished her high school career with 89 goals and 20 assists.Â

Nazarian also earned Under All-America honors in 2016. She posted 30 caused turnovers, 15 draw controls and five assists at Catansville High School. Defliese is two-time All-American from Garden City High School. She finished her career with 82 goals and 20 assists. Â Costantino is a two-time All-American and a four-time All-County honoree at West Islip. A midfielder, she finished her high school career with 149 goals and 270 ground balls. Widner earned all-state honors in 2016 at Coppell High School.

Syracuse finished the 2016 season with a 19-6 record and advanced to the national semifinals for the fifth consecutive year.
