SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse takes on Monmouth in the second match up of the Brooklyn Hoops Holiday Invitational Friday, Nov. 18. Opening tip is set for 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.

The Orange defeated Holy Cross, 90-46, in the first game of the Brooklyn Hoops Holiday Invitational.
Syracuse's next three games are part of the Brooklyn Hoops Holiday Invitational. After hosting South Carolina State on Tuesday, the event concludes with a match up against South Carolina at the Barclays Center on Saturday, Nov. 26.
This is the 13th season in a row that the Orange have started the season by winning their first two games.

CRUISING THROUGH THE CRUSADERS

In the win against Holy Cross, Andrew White II led the Orange with 19 points, while Tyler Lydon followed close behind with 17.
Three other Syracuse players had double-digit performances against the Crusaders: John Gillon with 15, Tyler Roberson with 12, and Taurean Thompson with 10.
On the defensive end, DaJuan Coleman grabbed six rebounds, while Pascal Chukwu came off the bench for the Orange and had five rebounds and six blocks.
The last time Syracuse scored 90 points or higher in a game was on Feb. 1 2014 when it defeated Duke at home, 91-89.

HAWK HUNTING

This is only the second time in school history Monmouth and Syracuse face-off. The first time these two teams played was in 2012. Syracuse won the contest, 108-56.
The Hawks were selected to finish first in the MAAC this season in the preseason coaches poll, with Justin Robinson being named Preseason Player of the Year. In 2015-16, Robinson earned the award after averaging 19.3 points per game.
Monmouth currently stands at 1-1 this season. After starting the season with a 78-65 win against Drexel, the Hawks suffered their first loss in their opening game of the Brooklyn Hoops Holiday Invitational, a 70-69 setback to South Carolina in overtime.
Last season, Monmouth lost to Iona in the MAAC Championship game, 79-76. The Hawks earned the No.1 seed in the NIT last year, and lost to George Washington, 87-71, in the second round of the tournament.
Head Coach King Rice enters his sixth season at Monmouth after leading the Hawks to a program-best 28 wins last season. He was named the John McLendon National Coach of the Year.

ON THE ORANGE HORIZON
Syracuse hosts its last home game of the Brooklyn Hoops Holiday Invitational on Tuesday, Nov. 22 when it takes on South Carolina State at 7 p.m.
