
Ebangwese, Gorelina Lead Orange in Loss to Louisville

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse volleyball team was defeated in four sets (25-21, 25-13, 20-25, 25-10) by Louisville on Wednesday night at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky.
Syracuse fell to 7-22 on the season and 6-13 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, while the Cardinals advanced to 11-18 overall and 6-13 in conference play.
Sophomore Anastasiya Gorelina led the Orange offense with 12 kills on the night. The outside hitter was the only 'Cuse player in double digits.
On defense, Santita Ebangwese ran the show for Syracuse, as the sophomore tallied ten blocks at the net.
Ebangwese led the Orange to a dominating defensive effort, as the Orange out-blocked the Cardinals, 11.0-6.0.
The pair of sophomore Jalissa Trotter and Kendra Lukacs had double-digit kill figures with 11 and 10, respectively.
The clubs kept the first and third games close, as Louisville claimed the first set (25-21) and Syracuse claimed the third set (25-20).
The Cardinals dominated the second set with a final score of 25-13, and then closed out the four-set match with a 25-10 decision to win the match, 3-1, and split the season series, 1-1, with the Orange.
Syracuse closes out the 2016 season on Friday at Notre Dame. The Orange and the Fighting Irish face off in a 1 p.m. match at the Purcell Pavilion in South Bend, Ind.
