KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Syracuse sophomore Miles Robinson has been selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America First Team, which was announced on Friday, Dec. 9. Robinson becomes the fifth player in program history to earn first-team All-America honors and the second in the last three years.
Â
The honor adds to an already impressive list of accolades for Robinson in 2016. He is a semifinalist for the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy, which is the highest individual honor in collegiate soccer. Robinson was voted the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Defensive Player of the Year and was an All-ACC First Team selection. He was also named to the NSCAA All-South Region First Team and the ECAC All-Star Team.
Â
Robinson started all 17 matches in which he played in this season and helped the Orange to 10 shutouts. He recorded a career-high nine points on four goals and an assist. Two of his goals came in Syracuse's overtime victory against St. John's for the first multiple-goal match of his career.
Â
A management major, Robinson has also been recognized for his work in the classroom. He was voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team.
Â
Syracuse has now had an NSCAA All-American in each of the last three seasons. Julian Buescher earned second-team accolades in 2015, while Alex Bono was a first-team All-American in 2014. Robinson joins Bono, Bill Nelson (1952), John McEwan (1932) and Vincent Black (1932, 1933) on the Orange's list of NSCAA All-America First Team selections.
Â
Robinson helped the Orange to a 12-4-4 record this season. Syracuse earned the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament, earning a first-round bye for the second consecutive season. The Orange advanced to the Sweet 16 for the third straight year.
