SECOND-HALF ADJUSTMENTS
In one of their most dominant performances of the season, the Orange went on a 17-3 run to start the second half in the 85-72 victory against Florida State. Syracuse continued its trend of strong second halves with the victory. In the previous game, the Orange came back from a 14-point deficit at half to fight for the overtime victory against Virginia Tech. Syracuse tied the game with 34 seconds left on the clock to send it into overtime.
GBINIJE ON FIRE
Graduate student Michael Gbinije shot 7-of-8 (.875) from the field on Thursday night against the Seminoles. His 22-point performance included an impressive 4-of-5 (.800) from behind the 3-point arc. He combined this effort with eight rebounds to end the night. It marked his third straight contest leading the Orange in scoring. The Richmond, Va. native also leads the conference in steals per game (2.33).
FRESHMEN STRONG
Freshmen Malachi Richardson and Tyler Lydon finished with 17 and 15 points, respectively, against the Seminoles. Lydon recorded his fourth double-double of the season with a game-high 10 rebounds. In addition, freshman Franklin Howard has been getting more minutes at the guard position and dished out a career-high six assists against Georgia Tech in 14 minutes of play.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
The Eagles enter the game on Sunday on an 11-game losing streak. Boston College is 0-11 in conference play. Their last win came against New Hampshire on Dec. 30 in a 72-67 overtime victory. Boston College most recently are coming off a close game with No. 9/8 North Carolina in which the Eagles lost 68-65 in the final two minutes of play.
Boston College is led by graduate student Eli Carter at the guard position. Carter averages 16.5 points per game and recorded a 26-point performance against North Carolina. Seven-foot center Dennis Clifford is strong on the boards for Boston College. The senior grabbed six against the Orange in January.
