SYRACUSE, N.Y.-Â The Syracuse women's ice hockey team heads into its final regular season series this weekend at home, hosting Lindenwood in a College Hockey America pair at War Memorial Arena on Friday and Saturday. Both games will be played at 3 p.m. and Saturday's game will honor seniors Nicole Ferrara, Jenn Gilligan, Danielle Leslie, Melissa Piacentini and Nicole Renault prior to the contest.
It is also alumnae weekend and registration for Saturday's festivities can be accessed by clicking here.
Syracuse (16-13-3, 12-4-2) has already clinched a first-round bye in the CHA playoffs and will need a sweep and some help around the league for a chance at finishing ahead of Mercyhurst for the top spot. Lindenwood (8-20-4, 5-9-4 CHA) is looking to secure home ice in the first round with a big weekend against the Orange.
The Orange are winners of their last five contests, including two consecutive CHA sweeps. Syracuse most recently defeated Robert Morris twice last weekend by the final scores of 6-1 and 3-2. In the 6-1 win, the Orange exploded for six second-period goals, which tied a program record for most goals in a period.
The Lady Lions split a series with Penn State their last time out, losing 3-0 before winning 1-0 on Saturday. Lindenwood goaltender finished the contest on Saturday with a 23-save shutout.
SCOUTING LINDENWOOD
Shara Jasper equaled the single-season program record with her 19th goal of the season on Feb. 13 at Penn State. Jasper is the conference leading goal-scorer, and tied for third in points.
The Lady Lions are currently winning a program record 45.2 percent of their faceoffs. The previous mark of 40.8 percent was reached a season ago. Corbin Welsh leads the team, winning 51 percent of her draws.
Lindenwood will await the weekend results from around the CHA to find out who and where they will be playing during the opening round of the conference tournament, a best-of-three series on Feb. 26-28.Â
