
#30 Syracuse Downed By #34 Georgia Tech

ATLANTA, Ga.- The No. 30 Syracuse women's tennis team was unable to take any matches against No. 33 Georgia Tech on Friday afternoon, falling to the Yellow Jackets by a final score of 7-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference play at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
Syracuse (8-4, 2-4 ACC) had two singles matches go to a third set, but the Orange could not record any wins against Georgia Tech (8-5, 3-1 ACC). For the Orange, it was their third consecutive loss in ACC play.
The No. 26 doubles tandem junior Valeria Salazar and freshman Gabriela Knutson lost their first match of the season coming to the hands of No. 21 Paige Hourigan and Kendal Woodard by the final score of 6-3. Salazar and Knutson are now 6-1 overall in doubles play.
Before the Salazar and Knutson loss, sophomore Nicole Mitchell and freshman Maria Tritou were downed by Natasha Prokhnevska and Megan Kurey 6-1, as Georgia Tech took the doubles point.
After winning the doubles point, Georgia Tech then dominated singles play, winning every contest over the Orange. Knutson and Tritou took their matches into three sets, but neither player was able to come away with a win.
