SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- No. 3/3 Syracuse returns home to take on No. 1-ranked and defending national champion Maryland on Saturday, March 12 in a rematch of last season's national semifinals. Opening draw in the Carrier Dome is set for 12 p.m.
Fans are invited to a day of lacrosse at the Dome. The Syracuse men's team takes on St. John's at 4 p.m. Admission to the women's game is free until halftime after which fans will be charged for a men's ticket. Parking in the Dome West lots is also free through halftime.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN3 and on WJPZ 89.1FM in the Syracuse area.
ORANGE DEFEAT CAVALIERS IN ACC OPENER
Syracuse returned to its winning ways with a 14-8 victory against Virginia on Saturday in Charlottesville. Senior Kayla Treanor led the Orange with six goals and an assist. It marked the third straight year that Syracuse has opened ACC action with a victory against the Cavaliers. The Orange now have two wins against teams ranked in the top 10 and three against teams that are ranked in the top 20 this season.
SYRACUSE VERSUS NO. 1
The Orange will face the top-ranked team in the nation for the 19th time in school history on Saturday. Their only win against the No. 1 team was in the semifinals of the 2012 NCAA Tournament when Syracuse overcame a seven-goal second-half deficit to defeat Florida in overtime.
SCOUTING THE TERRAPINS
Maryland enters Saturday's game with a 4-0 record. One of those victories was an 8-7 win at North Carolina on Feb. 27. Two-time Tewaaraton Award winner Taylor Cummings and All-American Megan Whittle lead the Terps' offense with 15 points each. Zoe Stukenberg also has reached double figures in scoring with 14. Megan Taylor has played the majority of minutes in goal for Maryland, making three starts. She has a 5.03 goals-against average and a .500 save percentage.
THE SERIES
Friday's game will be the 20th all-time meeting between the two schools. The Terrapins lead the series 18-1. Maryland has ended the Orange's season each of the past two years. Last season, the Terrapins defeated Syracuse, 10-7, during the regular season in College Park and 10-8 in the national semifinals.

Syracuse will play three straight road games, beginning Wednesday, March 16 at Harvard at 6 p.m.
