TODAY'S GAMEÂ
-Â The third-ranked Orange continues its historic rivalry with Johns Hopkins at Homwood Field on Saturday, in the 55th meeting between the two programs.
-Â The game will be broadcast on ESPNU, with Mark Dixon (pxp) and Ryan Flanagan (color) on the call. TK99 will also be the radio home for the Orange on Sunday, with Sam Hyman (pxp) and Kyle Fetterly (color). WAER also will broadcast the game, with Michael Tricarico (pxp), Marco Socci (color) as the broadcast team.
-Â Syracuse enters the game 5-0 after defeating St. John's 15-4 last weekend. The Blue Jays come into the tilt with a record of 3-2, having won back-to-back games against Princeton (17-7) and Towson (14-8).
THE JOHNS HOPKINS SERIES
- This will be the 55th meeting between the two programs, with Johns Hopkins controlling a 28-25-1 record all-time against Syracuse.
- In the last matchup between the two teams, came in the NCAA Quarterfinals at Navy-MC Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md. when the Orange's comeback attempt ran out of time and Syracuse fell 16-15.
- The teams have met 13 times in the NCAA Tournament all-time, which is the most frequent postseason opponent for the Orange.
-Â Syracuse is a combined 79-49-2 against teams currently in the Big Ten, having faced everyone except Michigan.
MILESTONE WATCH
- Dylan Donahue enters Saturday's contest one goal shy of the 125 goal plateau, which would make him 14th at Syracuse all-time in goals. He's eight goals from cracking the top-10 at Syracuse.
- Donahue is also nine points shy of becoming the 17th player in program history to record 200 points in their career.
- Donahue could also be just the fourth player in program history to lead the team in goals three seasons in his career if he continues his streak this season.
NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESSÂ
-Â Since joining the ACC, the Orange is 20-2 versus non-conference opponents, including a perfect 19-0 mark in regular-season, non-league contests.
- Syracuse finished 9-1 in 2015 versus non-conference opponents. The Orange's only loss to a non-ACC team came in the NCAA quarterfinals, 16-15, versus Johns Hopkins. 'Cuse is 4-0 to start the year in 2016.
-Â The last time Syracuse lost a non-conference, regular-season game was on April 16, 2013 to Hobart by the score of 13-12.
IN THE CLEAR
- Syracuse is currently clearing at 95-percent, which is the best percentage nationally, after finlshing third in 2015 in the category.
- By finishing at over 90 percent in 2015, it marked the third time in five years the Orange achieved that feat. SU also hit the 90 percent mark in 2011 and 2013.
- According to research done by the Virginia Athletic Media Relations Office, there have been 21 seasons in which a Division I team has cleared the ball at 90 percent or better, including three by SU.
Syracuse and Johns Hopkins will continue their rivalry on Saturday, with faceoff slated for 4 p.m.
