Syracuse alum Jarret Eaton posted a pair of season-best times in the semifinals and finals of the IAAF World Indoor Championships on his way to a fourth place finish in the 60-meter hurdles in Portland, Oregon.
Eaton, who won the U.S. Indoor Championship earlier this month, began his weekend on Saturday, qualifying easily in the prelims by taking second in his heat. He then took second again in his semifinal head on Sunday, racing to a time of 7.52 seconds, being edged by only Pascal Martinot-Lagarde of France at the line.
In the final, he shaved another two hundredths off his season-best time, racing to a time of 7.50 seconds, which was good for fourth. Jamaica's Omar McLeod, the 2015 NCAA Indoor Champion in the event, won gold with a 2016 world-best time of 7.41 seconds. Martinot-Lagarde took second in 7.46 seconds, followed by fellow countryman Dimitri Bascou (7.48 seconds).
The 2012 NCAA Indoor Champion, Eaton still holds the Syracuse school record in the 60-meter hurdles and stands as the program's only National Champion.
