TODAY'S GAME
- The 7th-ranked Orange looks to snap a two-game losing streak this week, with No. 2 Notre Dame returning to the Carrier Dome on Saturday, in the 12th meeting between the two programs.
- The game will be broadcast on ESPNU, with Eamon McAnaney (pxp), Paul Carcaterra (analyst) and Quint Kessenich (analyst) on the call. It will also be broadcast on TK99 with Michael Tricarico (pxp) and Ric Beardsley (color) calling the action.
- Syracuse enters the game 5-2 after falling to Duke 16-15 last weekend. The Fighting Irish comes into the tilt with a record of 6-1, having beaten Ohio State in their last game, 9-8.
THE NOTRE DAME SERIES
- This will be the 12th meeting between the two programs, with Syracuse controlling an 8-3 record all-time against Notre Dame.
- In last season's matchup between the Orange and the Fighting Irish, the Orange fell behind 5-3 at the half, and trailed 10-8 at the end of the third quarter. However, a 4-2 fourth quarter in favor of Syracuse helped force overtime. The Fighting Irish prevailed in a second overtime period, winning 13-12.
- Notre Dame is the third ACC opponent for the Orange in 2016. The Orange have split their conference matchups this season, winning the first at Virginia while losing the second at Duke.
KEEPING IT 100
- This is the 100th anniversary season of Syracuse men's lacrosse, which began play in 1916 under head coach Laurie Cox.
- Syracuse has only had four head coaches in the 100-year span (Laurie Cox, Roy Simmons Sr., Roy Simmons Jr. and John Desko).
- To celebrate the 100 years, each home game will be broken down into a different era, and the Carrier Dome will feature multiple in-game elements to honor that tradition.
- The Orange will also have other celebrations throughout the season, highlighted by inviting all former players back to be celebrated by the community on April 1, in conjunction with bringing them on the field at halftime of today's game.
- Nearly 200 former players are expected to participate in today's halftime ceremony.
- The Orange are also wearing special centennial helmets today, which they'll wear in a number of games this season.
MILESTONE WATCH
- With a goal in the Orange's matchup with Johns Hopkins, Dylan Donahue reached the 125 goal plateau, making him 15th all-time to score 125 goals at Syracuse. Now with 127, he's five goals from cracking the top-10 at SU and is tied with Paul Gait for 13th all-time.
- Donahue is also one point shy of becoming the 17th player in program history to record 200 points in their career.
- Donahue could also be just the fourth player in program history to lead the team in goals three seasons in his career if he continues his streak this season.
DOME-INATION
- Syracuse is 222-32 (.875) in the Carrier Dome since it began playing the majority of its home games there in 1981.
- The Orange finished 9-0 at the Dome in 2015, the 16th time since 1981 (the lacrosse team's first year there) that SU was perfect at home and 'Cuse has won 13-straight in the Dome.
- The Orange has won 13-straight home games and 19 of its last-20.
POLL POINTS
- Syracuse enters this week's contest having fallen to the No. 7 spot in both the USILA/NIKE Coaches' Poll and the Cascade/Maverik Media Poll.
- Syracuse has appeared in 47 consecutive USILA polls. The last time the Orange was not ranked was April 30, 2012.
- Overall, Syracuse has been ranked in 187 of the 190 USILA polls that have been released since 2000 and 405 of the 434 polls since the USILA began its national rankings in 1973.
- The Orange appeared in 272 straight polls from April 10, 1978 to April 30, 2007.
Syracuse and Notre Dame will square off at 5 p.m. Saturday, with tickets available on Cuse.com, by visiting the Carrier Dome Box Office, or by calling 1-888-DOMETIX
