Treanor Named Tewaaraton Award Nominee

WASHINGTON, D.C. – For the third consecutive year, Syracuse senior Kayla Treanor has been named a nominee for the Tewaaraton Award, which is presented annually to the top female and male collegiate lacrosse players in the nation. The list of 25 women's and men's nominees was announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Friday, April 29.

Treanor, who has been a finalist for the award the past two seasons, leads the team and ranks ninth in the nation in scoring with 74 points. She also leads the team in goals (42) and assists (32). In addition, Treanor leads the nation in draw controls per game (9.28). She is Syracuse's all-time leader in goals (252) and is the NCAA Division I active leader in points (377) and goals.

The ACC head coaches voted Treanor to the All-ACC First Team, marking the fourth consecutive year she has earned all-conference first-team accolades. Treanor is a three-time IWLCA first-team All-American and has been named the Attacker of the Year twice by the IWLCA and ACC.

Five finalists will be chosen from the list of 25 nominees on Thursday, May 12. The 2016 Tewaaraton Award will be presented on Thursday, June 2 in Washington D.C. at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian.
